Abigail and I have been dying to get to The Met to see the Comme des Garçons exhibit. We’ve been CDG fans since we first laid eyes on Rei Kawakubo’s designs. It’s so outlandish in the best way possible. The exhibition ranges in work from the 1980’s to current day. There are about 140 looks, but it’s still not enough! We could have gotten lost in there for hours.
There is even two dresses connected by leather… we NEED it. How have we not had a conjoint dress yet?! Keep your eyes peeled for that soon. Also those headpieces!! (Created and styled by Julien d’Ys.) Okay, we could go on and on, but it is something you have to see and interpret yourself. The exhibit closes September 4th 🙁 However, if you aren’t able to make it enjoy the pics above or check out more detailed coverage on The Met website.
Since it was 90 degrees yesterday we decided to go in very breathable… barely there looks. Abigail’s look made some of the museum workers blush. She assured them she was not in fact naked, but utilizing a fun nude bodysuit to give off the illusion of being naked. She paired all that nudeness with a lace dress from H&M with the lining ripped out.
This is my preppy going to a museum skirt, but the more I looked around and saw other museum goers I realize I am anything but preppy. However, for me that was more conservative. I love the netting on the skirt. Let’s a nice breeze in, but I’m also not going to flash everyone (like usual) on the subway stairs… sorry boys 😉
What is your favorite look from the Comme des Garçons exhibit?? What an incredible exhibit. I can’t wait to see what comes to The Met next!
P.S. Yes, these are the stairs from Gossip Girl. Yes, we had a moment… and by moment I mean we dreamed we were Chuck and Blair.
