Is everyone as obsessed with Christmas as we are? Once Thanksgiving is over, we try to jam as much Christmas spirit into December as we can. That means all the Christmas markets, holiday pop ups, skating, tree lightings... whatever it is, we will be partaking.

This year, I did everything possible Nashville had to offer, so I decided to check out the surrounding areas and see what they were up to for the holidays. I noticed Helen kept popping up, a small alpine village nestled in the mountains of North Georgia. The unique thing about Helen is that the town is Bavarian style. That means everything from the colorful architecture to the delicious food is Germanic.

One of my favorite trips was to Berlin for the holiday markets a few years ago and I have been craving that type of hyper Christmas camaraderie. I noticed they had a Christmas market for two weekends and I instantly booked a stay. Of course, I opted for a cabin with a hot tub for a post market soak. There is nothing better than staying in a cabin during the winter time. Christmas in Helen Georgia was magical!

I highly suggest checking out Hofer's Bakery and Hansel and Gretel's Candy shop if you have a sweet tooth like me. Hofbrauhaus Restaurant had traditional German food. I had a HUGE pretzel that had been shipped in from Munich! Give yourself time to peruse all the shops in the downtown area. All cute, all worth it. Give yourself even more if you go during the holiday market! No trip would be complete without a German beer, so grab a stein and hit up one of the many bars. We actually decided to go outside of the downtown to some breweries and wineries. Habersham Winery is picturesque and worth the short drive.

Needless to say, this town is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. I'm sure it is beautiful any time of year, but going during the Christmas markets was incredible!

Who has been to Helen and who needs to book a trip for this December?
